Christies Watches Online presents “Time for Spring”, a curated auction of timepieces highlighted by a Patek Philippe Reference 2503 owned by Andy Warhol
The ongoing “Time For Spring” online auction, held by Christies Watches offers a remarkable chance to own a watch once belonged to the iconic artist Andy Warhol. With the estimated price between $50,000 and $100,000, and the fact that Warhol had an enviable collection of over 300 watches, to which the iconic Patek Philippe Reference 2503 had belong, the future wearer will know that this watch is the best of the best.
Andy Warhol’s favorite Patek Philippe Reference 2503, is a textbook dress watch with a slim, rectangular shape, a yellow-gold case, and a black-calf leather strap. To make the timepiece more eccentric, the rare Ref. 2503 was granted with the “bunny ear lugs” on the sharp, 18K yellow gold Markowsky case, making its look both quirky and highly refined when secured to the wrist by the original black lizard strap.
Patek Philippe Reference 2503 watch has a distinct depth to it when on the wrist, due to the domed crystal that follows the curvature of the case. The dial of the rare watch features applied numerals and slender leaf-shaped hands that will make every collector excited. The watch works with Patek Philippe’s manually wound Cal. 9-90 caliber, and its 18-jewel movement beats 19,800 vibrations every hour.
