Backes & Strauss Presents The Master-Cut Timepiece The Earl of Strauss

Backes & Strauss, British timepiece manufacturer and the world’s oldest diamond company, has unveiled a new diamond-set timepiece The Earl of Strauss, in homage to its co-founder Max Strauss. The company which was established in 1789 produces truly unique watches that are presented as a piece of art. Since 2006, the brand has been collaborating with the watch trademark Frank Muller. Due to its unique mechanism, developed by watch company Frank Muller, Backes & Strauss watches have occupied a unique niche in the segment of complex mechanical watchmaking products.

Backes & Strauss Presents The Master-Cut Timepiece The Earl of StraussThe soon-to-be-released Earl of Strauss adds to the brilliance of its Franck Muller-designed movement with 677 ideal-cut round brilliant diamonds totaling 8.47cts a deluge of diamonds. The gems adorn the watch’s case, crown, dial, bezel, bridge, buckle, and even its partially skeletonized horologic heart.

AdTech AdThe Earl of Strauss celebrates the legacy of Backes & Strauss cofounder Max Strauss who helped solidify the world’s oldest diamond company when he joined in 1856. With “Strauss” being the German word for ostrich, the jewelry atelier’s ostrich logo is etched into the balance wheel of the timepiece. Also visible on the dial is the calendar function at 2 o’clock and the power reserve indicator fixed at 4 o’clock. The movement of The Earl of Strauss is partly skeleton in a bid to showcase its architectural inspirations.

Now a business component of the Franck Muller Group, Backes & Strauss will create only 25 examples of the watch that will be available at the end of December and will be priced at about $98,000.
