Chanel has just revealed its Spring 2017 eyewear collection that is based on two designs, the octagon of the perfume cabochons and the fine jewelry quilting. Moreover, French fashion house dictates the new season’s fashion trend: positioning the elegant temples of the glasses on the cheekbones. Chanel Quilted Crush range is inspired by the quilted pattern that adorns the brand’s iconic handbags and is comprised of butterfly, XXL square and cat eye styles.
After the quilted Chanel bag design has been incorporated into a stunning jewellery collection, the distinctive matelassé pattern is now seen on temples of the new collection of sunglasses Quilted Crush. The curved effect is reworked in golden, silvery or ruthenium metal on the cat eye, butterfly, square or oval frames. Ultra-elegant in black with beige-gold tinted lenses with a drop of pink, they are featured in khaki, tortoiseshell, blue and transparent green, and are nothing short of electrifying with their mirrored lenses on the burgundy, pine green and dark blue versions.
The iconic quilting was first used by Gabrielle Chanel in 1920 after she encountered the matelassé pattern sewn into the horse blankets and the gilets worn by stable boys when she went riding as young girl. The quilting became a part of her signature aesthetic and today it’s not only synonymous with the iconic 2.55 handbag but also appears on other products such as jewelry, jackets, eye shadow palettes and now the stylish new range of sunglasses that is available for $535.
