Chopard Releases New Watches, L.U.C Time Traveler One & GMT One

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Manufacture in Fleurier, Chopard is launching two new L.U.C timepieces: the L.U.C GMT One and the L.U.C Time Traveler One. The L.U.C Collection celebrates legacy of Louis-Ulysse Chopard, a watchmaker from the Swiss village of Sonvilier who in 1860 founded the company that dominates the world of fine horology. Each element of these exceptional timepieces is designed to illuminate the craftsmanship of the past for the distinguished contemporary gentleman. Like all L.U.C timepieces, all-new L.U.C Time Traveler One and GMT One timepieces are entirely produced and beautifully finished at the Manufacture, and are chronometer-certified by COSC.

Designed for globetrotters, Chopard L.U.C Time Traveler One timepiece is available in three elegant versions: stainless steel ($12,800), the stunning 18-karat rose gold ($22,500) and the platinum ($32,200). Chopard’s first world timer, the watch is powered by Calibre 01.05-L self-winding movement with 60 hours of power reserve. The 262-part movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers hours, minutes, seconds as well as world time in the 24 key cities.

The easy-to-read format of the dial of L.U.C Time Traveler One features a discreet central hand which indicates the date, and a surrounding railway track circle serves to read the hours and minutes of the local time zone, adjusted by the crown at 2 o’clock. Moving outwards, a large 24-hour graduated ring operates in coordination with the disc that bears the reference cities symbolizing the 24 main time zones. The wearer needs to synchronize them with the local time zone using the 4 o’clock crown.

The L.U.C GMT One is Chpard’s pioneer GMT watch that incorporates the GMT/dual timing function into the movement. The 291-part automatic L.U.C 01.10-L caliber offers 60 hours of power reserve and is visible through the glare-proofed sapphire crystal case-back. The 42 mm stainless steel case features a polished bezel and case-back with vertical satin-brushed case middle. It surrounds a black sunburst satin-brushed dial with snailed chapter ring, and hour-markers and Arabic numerals painted with Super-Luminova. The $9,500 timepiece is available until the end of October 2016 at all Chopard boutiques and L.U.C retailers.
