The House of Martell has launched its latest limited edition Cordon Bleu Intense Heat Cask Finish, which is nspired by wood and heat and celebrates the exceptional craftsmanship of the Martell barrel makers. A 300-year-old cognac house’s amber-colored concoction is created using a blend of over 100 extra old eau-de-vie.
The ageing of this limited edition cognac from Martell is completed in casks which are intensely burnt, known as “chauffe crocodile”. The inside of the oak casks is burnt to release woody aromas as the eaux-de-vie interacts with the barrels. On the palate, the taste is rounded and generous with candied flavours. Delicate vanilla notes, together with a nice integrated touch of wood, combine harmoniously with notes of candied fruit.
The Cordon Bleu Intense Heat Cask Finish is housed in a deep blue embossed presentation box. The cognac’s packaging reacts to body heat when rubbed, by changing color into a fiery red and creating the illusion of glowing embers. To commemorate the launch of Cordon Bleu Intense Heat, Martell has partnered with leading mixologist, Clotilde Lataille, to create a signature drink, the Intense Heat Cocktail inspired by the wood and heat flavours of the cognac.
Ideal as a holiday gift, the Martell Cordon Bleu Intense Heat Cask Finish is available for private purchase at $312.
