Louis Vuitton is working with the New York-based artist Jeff Koons to create “Masters”, a new range of bags and accessories to be launched on April 28th. One of the most widely recognized figures in contemporary art, Jeff Koons has brought imagery from his long-standing “Gazing Ball” paintings – a series of large-scale hand-painted reproductions of works by the Old Masters – to a range of Louis Vuitton products. His re-creations of masterpieces by da Vinci, Titian, Rubens, Fragonard and Van Gogh have been transposed on to such iconic Louis Vuitton bags as the Speedy, the Keepall and the Neverfull.
The iconic Louis Vuitton canvas is the perfect blank page to express the uniqueness of this Masters Collection’s piece of art. The fashion brand’s signature bags such as the Speedy, Neverfull, and Keepall alongside wallets, keychains, shawls and silk squares make up the entire series.
New shape specifically designed for Louis Vuitton X Jeff Koons collection, the chain bag integrates iconic elements from the House (lock, envelop shape, leather patch) and specific signatures of the collaboration: a new chain, silver Monogram serti, reflective metallic letters and colored trimmings. An exclusive leather lining embossed, printed and filled with gold tells you more about this unexpected collaboration.
Moreover, Louis Vuitton has released a video remix of the iconic artworks featured in the collection to commemorate its latest project. The acclaimed pop artist remixes the iconic artworks of the old masters and presents them in a way that encourages new interpretations. Monet’s Water Lilies, Klimt’s The Kiss and Mona Lisa come to life in a new video.
