For its MU77 House project, Los Angeles-based firm Arshia Architects has just earned a 2016 Design Award trophy from the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The sculptural residence, which epitomizes excellence in design, will be an iconic property in Hollywood hills neighborhood in Los Angeles, California.
The single-family residence scheme of the house was molded by the strict regulations of the Mulholland Scenic corridor plan along with extreme site constraints. The residence is integrated into the surrounding landscape with a geometric appearance mimicking the terrain and sudden deviations of rock formations within the natural landscape.
Hidden underneath its Mulholland Drive entrance, the MU77 House utilizes the outdoor space to accentuate the fact that it boasts the best views in all of southern California. The garage and main entrance sit on the top floor which comprises a guest bedroom, two other bedrooms, and a foyer. Downstairs is the master bedroom, as well as the family room, main kitchen/living space, and walls of sliding glass doors that opens it up to the spacious terrace, pool, and jacuzzi.
