To convey the symbiosis between artist and tool, Faber-Castel, one of the world’s largest and oldest manufacturers of art supplies and high-end writing instruments, pays tribute to the inexhaustible creative power of Karl Lagerfeld. The Karlbox is a unique art supply kit consisting of 350 tools for drawing and painting that are housed in a sleek black wooden box resembling a Chinese wedding cabinet.
The $2,850 Karlbox is divided into several drawers which contain the primary colors; markers, crayons, colour pencils, including reds, blacks, greens, yellows and blues set out like a colour chart. Only 2,500 will be produced and sold exclusively at Faber-Castell stores, Karl Lagerfeld boutiques and Harrods in London. Select department and specialty stores like Breuninger in Stuttgart, Jelmoli in Zurich, Le Bon Marché in Paris and Gump’s in San Francisco, will also offer the box from September 19.
