Located in Milan’s sleekest and most fashionable shopping districts, Four Seasons Hotel Milano is a 15th-century convent transformed into an urban sanctuary of luxury and comfort. From June 1 until July 31, 2017, the luxury hotel is offering The Last Supper Package, providing guests with guaranteed and facilitated access to the masterpiece of Leonardo da Vinci.
The Last Supper is displayed in the Dominican convent adjoining the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The landmark fresco was painted from 1494 to 1498 by Leonardo Da Vinci with a new technique called a secco on the wall of the convent’s refectory. This new technique explains the fragility of the painting, which has undertaken several restoration phases to prevent the colors from fading. The Last Supper is remarkable because the disciples are all displaying very human, identifiable emotions. The biblical scene had certainly been painted before. Leonardo’s version, though, was the first to depict real people acting like real people.
To ensure minimal environmental impact on the painting today, visits are strictly monitored and restricted to small groups, resulting in limited visit options and long advance booking required. With this new exclusive package, guests at Four Seasons Hotel Milano will be able to have guaranteed access to The Last Supper during their stay and may even request a private visit, ideal for a cultural family getaway or to add a bit of history into the summer.
