French industrial engineer Dimitri Bez offers his own take on the iconic 1947 Sea Maid Wooden Ski Boat. An electric vessel Zebra Boat marries two worlds: the world of classic design, as it’s made from such noble materials as wood and leather, and the world of modern technologies, as it comes equipped with modern features like touchscreens and electric motors. Bez, who graduated from the ENSAAMA in Paris, is a multi-talented artist, quite famous for creating a number of versatile projects. The Parisian designer is currently looking for new partnerships and new challenges, even in the most eccentric fields.
The Zebra Boat is defined by its unique pattern made from the wooden panels, which is continued through the soft cushions. The whole boat is structured by chrome lines throughout its outline. This speedboat is outfitted with a classic dark orange interior enhancing the vintage look. The retro controls inside are sitting side by side with an OLED touchscreen tablet, which provides navigation support and can double as a video screen.
Dimitri Bez joins the echelon of designers who renew their interest in electric boats, that have been around for more than a century. Marine enthusiasts realize the benefits of electric propulsion, that make boats ran smoothly, comfortably, and with essentially none of the noise.
