Following the launch of the ultra-exclusive OZLUCENT sneaker last year, adidas Originals and MRBAILEY present the latest project in their ongoing exploration of natural forms. The multi-faceted designer embarked on a four step journey of metamorphosis to explore the connection between humans and the natural world, all-the-while reimagining adidas Originals’ OZWORLD DNA. Referencing the lifecycle of the aurelia moon jellyfish, the design process takes cues from the marine animal’s form during its juvenile ephyra period.
London-based footwear designer Daniel Baile aka MRBAILEY, is the founder of CONCEPTKICKS® – a highly curated footwear research program.
MRBAILEY transforms the jellyfish-inspired OZLUCENT sneaker into the OZMORPHIS silhouette. The shoe boasts elevated comfort and a uniquely contemporary aesthetic. Sat atop an adiPRENE midsole, its upper is encased in a cocoon-like form that was made using a TPU structure that encases an inner neoprene sox. The toe box, meanwhile, directly references the lappets used for aquatic movement by the water-borne creature.
Representing the latest iteration of MRBAILEY’s jelly-fish-inspired OZWORLD metamorphosis, the OZMORPHIS sneaker launches globally on February 9th and is available via Confirmed and select retailers.
