Brugal, an award-winning premium rum producer from the Dominican Republic, unveils its most exclusive expression to date, Andrés Brugal. The ultra-premium rum was crafted by fifth-generation Maestra Ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana to celebrate founder Andrés Brugal’s spirit of exploration. This is the brand’s first-ever release that blends two double-aged reserves with first-fill single casks.
Andrés Brugal is radiant amber liquid charactreized by rich, balanced notes of roasted coffee beans and freshly harvested Cacao, layered with the sweet scent of homemade dulce de leche fudge and the buttery softness of Dominican rum cake. On the palate, a combination of oak, vanilla bean and sweet caramel flan are complemented by fresh ripe berries, delicate notes of aromatic black peppercorns and sweet cloves. The silky, long-lasting dry finish is rich with warming, woody spices.
This exclusive release is bottled in a limited-edition, hand-blown crystal decanter and presented in a bespoke display cabinet inspired by the iconic traveling cases earlier Maestros took with the on their voyages. Rendered from American oak, its exterior surfaces are etched with an iconic diamond pattern redolent of the netting that surrounds many of Brugal’s bottles. Twin segments fold down to showcase the hand-blown crystal decanter hidden within, and a sea of surrounding mirrored surfaces create a halo of reflected light that illuminates the rum’s rich amber liquid. These surfaces are subtly etched with a map of the world, symbolic of Brugal’s journey of excellence that began with the first journey of Don Andrés’ from Spain to the Caribbean.
Only 460 bottles are available worldwide, with 50 exclusively sold in the U.S. The ultra-premium rum retails for $2,800.
