ArcaBoard, the world’s first hoverboard that actually hovers above the ground, is offered for $20,000
New Mexico’s Arca Space Corporation presents its innovative and bold creation ArcaBoard. To make it possible to move this personal vehicle in all directions including upwards, it is constructed from aerospace-grade composite materials that make it both lightweight and sturdy. Weighing 22lbs, ArcaBoard includes a cooling system that keeps the device safe from the heat generated by its electric motors.
We use aerospace grade composite materials to create a very lightweight though stiff and resilient structure, to house the 36 electric motors and batteries. The weight of the composite structure alone, at only 10 kg (22 lbs) is remarcable. 203,000 W is a huge amount of power and the composite structure is a good thermal insulator, but the forced cooling system allows the ArcaBoard equipment to remain cool, even during intense usage.
The rectangular ArcaBoard is powered by fans that can levitate off the ground and carry passengers to another destination. The company claims that 36 electric ducted fans are more than enough to allow an average weight person, up to 110 kg (243 lbs) to get creative with the innovative hoverboard. The Arca Space’s creation offers up to 272HP to the rider. The Long Endurance version has a lifting capacity of 80 kg (176 lbs), in which the endurance will increase from 3 min. up to 6 min.
The ArcaBoard has also built-in stabilization system to provide total stability when hovering or traveling at high speed. It can connect with Android or iOS device via Bluetooth, while the smartphone app can be used to control the elevation and also the flight. The personal vehicle also includes built-in sensors that prevent the device from rising rapidly if riders jump, and its maximum height is also limited to one foot (30.5 centimetres).
