The Marvel superhero Spider-Man has garnered a massive global fan base and has become a symbol of family and community values. From comics to video games, Spider-Man has permeated pop culture in various forms. With the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Spider-Man,” Audemars Piguet pays homage to this iconic character, capturing his essence and narrative. Just like Peter Parker, who embraces his responsibilities as a superhero, Audemars Piguet commits itself to the cause of First Book and Ashoka, aligning with the belief that great power brings great responsibility.
The Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Spider-Man” showcases a breathtaking openworked movement within its 42 mm titanium and black ceramic case. Audemars Piguet’s engineers and watchmakers utilized their expertise to achieve transparency, allowing Spider-Man’s character to appear three-dimensionally as if suspended in the void through the sapphire crystal. The Super Hero’s silhouette is intricately crafted from white gold, featuring laser-engraved details that emulate the texture of his suit. A skilled artisan hand-paints each piece, creating a recognizable two-tone aesthetic with contrasting matte red and metallic blue. This meticulous process takes over 50 hours to complete, demonstrating Audemars Piguet’s dedication to craftsmanship.
The dial of the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Spider-Man” incorporates black PVD-coated gold hour markers and Arabic numerals, complemented by polished hands with luminescent properties that turn blue in the dark, reminiscent of Spider-Man’s world. The watch’s case showcases a combination of polished, micro-blasted, and satin-finished finishes, adhering to traditional watchmaking traditions. The movement features various decorations, including traits-tirés, sandblasting, and polishing, adding to its refined aesthetics.
Accompanying the limited edition of 250 pieces is a one-of-a-kind watch known as the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Black Suit Spider-Man.” This unique timepiece boasts a white gold case adorned with a spider leg motif, created through laser engraving and filled with luminescent hybrid ceramic. The dial features Spider-Man in his black suit, inspired by the character’s representation in 1980s comics. Luminescent material glows green in the dark, adding an air of mystery to this exceptional watch. Notably, the Royal Oak Concept case is equipped with an interchangeable strap system, allowing owners to switch straps and buckles effortlessly.
In continuation of Audemars Piguet’s philanthropic initiatives, the unique Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Black Suit Spider-Man” timepiece, along with several other lots, will be auctioned. The entire proceeds from the auction will be donated to First Book and Ashoka, supporting their mission to empower young individuals and drive positive change.
