Luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet and the iconic Cactus Jack label founded by hip-hop artist Travis Scott, teamed up to create the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked Limited Edition. This 41 mm timepiece is not only a celebration of precision and craftsmanship but also a fusion of classic complication and contemporary design.
Audemars Piguet introduces its first-ever Royal Oak model crafted in brown ceramic – a hue synonymous with Cactus Jack’s signature style. The 41 mm case and bracelet studs showcase this lightweight, scratch-resistant material, achieved through a meticulous manufacturing process involving yttrium-stabilized Zirconium Oxide powder.
Travis Scott affectionately refers to the timepiece as “The Chocolate AP” in his latest album. The watch features a sapphire dial that unveils the mesmerizing openworked Calibre 5135 movement. The rhodium-toned and pink-gold-toned components complement each other, creating a visual feast for watch enthusiasts.
Several design elements pay homage to Cactus Jack’s distinctive graphics. The luminescent coating on the moon phase indication, featuring Cactus Jack’s iconic smiley face with a sewn-shut mouth, glows blue in the dark. Other calendar indications emit a green luminescent effect, adding a unique touch to the timepiece’s aesthetic.
Travis Scott’s influence is evident in the typography of the calendar and week indications, hand-drawn to reflect his personal touch. The day subdial hand takes on the shape of the Cactus Jack logo, creating a seamless integration of the two brands’ identities.
A textured calfskin leather strap debuts for this limited edition, paired with a pink gold folding clasp engraved with the signatures of “Audemars Piguet” and “Travis Scott.” The caseback further reinforces the exclusivity with engravings like “Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar,” “Limited Edition of 200 Pieces,” and Travis Scott’s album-inspired mantra, “Utopia is a state of mind.”
Powering this limited edition is the selfwinding Calibre 5135, a marvel that automatically adjusts for leap years and maintains accuracy until 2100 without manual correction. The sapphire caseback reveals the intricate decorations adorning the movement, including circular satin, satin brushing, sandblasting, sunray brushing, and polished chamfers.
The collaboration culminates with the stamped openworked 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight featuring the double signatures of “Audemars Piguet” and “Cactus Jack.” The Cactus Jack logo at the center adds the final touch, symbolizing the harmonious blend of diverse universes in this extraordinary collaboration.
