Automobili Pininfarina is paying homage to the motorsport world with an exclusive new limited-edition version of its award-winning electric hyper GT Battista. The Battista Edizione Nino Farina, set to make its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, is a testament to the rich legacy of F1 racing legend Nino Farina, the first-ever Formula One World Champion and the nephew of design icon Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina. With only five examples to be crafted worldwide, each Battista Edizione Nino Farina offers a unique and bespoke experience, celebrating key milestones in Nino Farina’s illustrious racing career.
Nino Farina’s remarkable story serves as the inspiration for the Battista Edizione Nino Farina. As an uncle to Nino Farina, Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, the founder of Carrozzeria Pininfarina, played a significant role in igniting Nino’s passion for motorsport. He even accompanied his 16-year-old nephew as a passenger in his first-ever race, fueling Nino’s appetite for competition. This experience set Nino on a path to participate in numerous races and championships across Italy in the 1930s.
In 1950, Nino Farina made history by competing in the first Grand Prix races organized by the FIA, which eventually became today’s Formula One World Championship. Representing a three-car team, Nino Farina dominated his debut year, winning the British (held at Silverstone), Swiss, and Italian races, ultimately clinching the inaugural Formula One World Championship. His fearless driving style and unwavering passion for the sport played a vital role in his early F1 victories, including leading his teammates to a triumphant 1-2-3 finish at Silverstone and winning the Italian Grand Prix.
The Battista Edizione Nino Farina’s exterior and interior features pay homage to the legendary racing driver’s life and achievements. With only five units available worldwide, each model showcases unique bespoke features, ensuring every collector owns a one-of-a-kind Italian design masterpiece. The exterior boasts the exclusive Rosso Nino paint, a deep and rich red hue reminiscent of the vehicles Nino Farina drove throughout his career. The car’s intricate bodywork is complemented by Bianco Sestriere and Iconica Blu detailing, including a special livery on the lower body and bespoke pinstripes on the door mirrors and rear wing.
The interior of the Battista Edizione Nino Farina exhibits a bespoke two-tone theme, combining black sustainable luxury leather for the driver’s seat and contrasting beige and black Alcantara for the passenger seat. The Pilota seats feature a unique quilting pattern, with ‘Nino Farina’ embellished on the backrest. The attention to detail is impeccable, with embroidered laurel wreaths, gold ’01’ graphics, and red Pininfarina logos adorning the seats. The steering wheel, finished in black Alcantara with exposed carbon, bears the ‘Nino Farina’ signature on a brushed aluminum plate.
Underneath its exquisite design, the Battista Edizione Nino Farina boasts a state-of-the-art powertrain that delivers unparalleled performance. Powered by a high-capacity 120 kWh lithium-ion battery housed within a lightweight carbon fiber chassis, this electric hyper GT features four independent high-performance electric motors, one for each wheel. With Full Torque Vectoring, Electronic Stability Control, and customizable power delivery and handling responses, the Battista Edizione Nino Farina offers a driving experience like never before.
The Battista’s extraordinary launch control technology propels it from 0 to 60 mph in a staggering 1.79 seconds, making it faster than many Formula One cars. It achieves 0-100 km/h in 1.86 seconds and 0-120 mph in 4.49 seconds. Moreover, the Battista’s exceptional braking capabilities make it the fastest braking EV, halting from 100-0 km/h in just 31 meters.
