In 2017, the Royal Commission for AlUla has been entrusted with the vital mission of preserving and developing the remarkable region of AlUla, located in north-west Saudi Arabia. As part of the Journey Through Time (JTT) masterplan, the company will create a new resort that will be meticulously designed to blend harmoniously with the pristine natural environment of AlUla while adhering to the principles outlined in the Sustainability Charter for AlUla, Saudi Green Initiative, and Vision 2030. By integrating innovative and eco-friendly practices, AZULIK AlUla Resort will minimize its ecological footprint and ensure the long-term conservation of AlUla’s natural resources.
The AZULIK AlUla Resort is an exquisite eco-luxury retreat nestled within the captivating Nabatean Horizon District of the JTT masterplan. Situated amidst enchanting canyons near the AlMutadil Equestrian Village development, it offers a mesmerizing escape. Additionally, the resort’s surroundings include Wadi AlFann, a historic valley that will soon feature magnificent large-scale artworks integrated into the natural landscape.
Scheduled for its grand opening in 2027, the resort will present an array of indulgent offerings, including 76 opulent villas available in six distinct varieties. Among its exceptional amenities are a luxurious spa, a VIP club, welcoming lounges, an all-day dining experience, and the captivating SFER IK museum. Embracing the region’s natural ecosystem and the majestic sandstone cliffs that envelop it, the resort’s design will seamlessly blend with its surroundings, featuring fluid lines and incorporating natural materials and fibers interwoven into multiple layers.
AZULIK AlUla Resort holds a deep commitment to honoring AlUla’s rich heritage and preserving the area’s ecological and biological diversity. To achieve this, the development will safeguard and integrate nearby ancient rock art inscriptions, ensuring their protection and cultural significance. Furthermore, a thoughtful approach to sustainable water management will be adopted, utilizing the natural system of existing waterways to provide irrigation while safeguarding against floods.
To enhance the guest experience and foster a stronger connection with the breathtaking environment, the resort will prohibit private vehicle traffic on the premises. Instead, an efficient and eco-friendly all-electric mobility system will be provided, complemented by horse and camel routes as well as hiking trails, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the serenity of the surroundings.
Managed by the esteemed Mexican luxury brand AZULIK and thoughtfully designed by Roth Architecture, the AZULIK AlUla Resort is not only dedicated to offering its guests an unparalleled experience but also strives to generate socioeconomic advantages for the AlUla community. Upon reaching its full operational capacity, the resort will generate over 300 new employment opportunities, fostering local job creation and economic empowerment.
Emphasizing a commitment to supporting the region’s economy, the resort’s construction phase will prioritize the utilization of local materials and engage local contractors. Furthermore, during its operational phase, AZULIK AlUla Resort will procure a significant portion of its supplies from AlUla and the broader Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, contributing to the expansion of regional economic growth. This approach ensures that the resort becomes a catalyst for sustainable development and a source of prosperity for the community it thrives within.
