A bamboo handle tote first presented by Gucci in 1991, the Gucci Diana has been updated with removable, neon leather belts that are inspired by the functional bands that once came with the original bag to maintain the shape of the handles.
Inspired by photography depicting action-focused shots of celebrities, the campaign portrays the new Gucci Diana bag captured outside The Savoy Hotel in London – where founder Guccio Gucci worked as a liftboy in his youth.
Alessandro Michele explores the concept of embodiment in the new line, which is designed to evoke an aesthetic, but also an attitude. At the edge of inspiration, he takes a step beyond in a contemplation on the vast and impactful influence that a person, or perhaps, a persona, has had across generations and cultures.
Its namesake, Princess Diana, was often captured by paparazzi wearing the bag. The updated tote is available in three sizes – small, medium, and large – and can be purchased in various colors, including black, white, rich brown, green, red, light blue, and light pink. Combining recognizable elements of the House, the Gucci Diana is defined by its bamboo handles and Double G hardware. Celebrities like Jodie Turner-Smith, Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller Elle Fanning have all been spotted carrying the famous bag.
