In the world of horology, few brands command the respect and admiration that Bell & Ross has earned over the years. Since its inception in 1994, this renowned brand has consistently pushed the boundaries of watch design, particularly in the realm of aviation watches. Its commitment to excellence, functionality, and precision has made its the ultimate reference in the field.
Bell & Ross’ BR 03 collection has been a hallmark of their identity and style since 2006. Inspired by the aesthetics of aircraft cockpits and aeronautical instrumentation, this collection has always embodied the brand’s core principles of legibility, functionality, precision, and reliability. But as the saying goes, “Innovation is the calling card of the future,” and Bell & Ross has answered that call with the 2023 version of the BR 03.
The most noticeable change in the new BR 03 is its case size, which has been delicately reduced from 42 mm to 41 mm. In the world of watchmaking design, every millimeter counts, and this change reflects the brand’s dedication to preserving the collection’s identity while adapting it to contemporary tastes. As Bruno Belamich, Bell & Ross’ co-founder and Creative Director, aptly puts it, “Our goal was to preserve the identity that has made the BR 03 so successful, while adapting it to the new times and maintaining its allure.”
Beyond the change in case size, the BR 03 boasts a range of other remarkable features that showcase its evolution. One of the most significant upgrades is the inclusion of the new automatic movement, the BR-CAL.302. This movement not only ensures precision but also introduces an extended power reserve of 54 hours. This means that the watch can be left unused for two days and still display the exact time accurately.
The new BR 03 collection offers an exciting range of models to cater to various tastes and preferences. From the resolutely retro Black Matte, Phantom, and Heritage models with their black cases, to the polished steel Black Steel, Blue Steel, and Golden Heritage versions, there’s a BR 03 for every style.
One standout model is the BR03 Copper, featuring an attractive copper dial achieved through a galvanization process. Its engraved black numerals and indexes provide depth, while blue metallic hands offer a charming retro look with a modern twist.
Meanwhile, the BR 03 Military Ceramic combines a matte black ceramic case with a khaki dial, boldly positioning itself as a military-inspired timepiece.
Bell & Ross’ journey began in the cockpit of an aircraft, and their ambition was clear – to design watches directly inspired by aeronautical instrumentation.
With the refined evolution of the iconic BR 03, they continue to amaze us, remaining loyal to their codes while adapting to the changing times. The new automatic movement, the enhanced power reserve, and the exquisite design choices are a testament to their expertise in professional watchmaking.
