Bell & Ross, a French watch company based in Paris with manufacturing in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, revealed its new BR 03 CYBER watch in matt black ceramic. The watch embodies the Maison’s commitment to pushing the envelope, exploring new territories, and redefining the essence of timekeeping.
Bell & Ross faced the challenge of transforming the iconic BR 03 line without losing the strength and identity that defines one of its cornerstone collections. To achieve this, the Maison combined the BR 03 design with the graphic and futuristic codes of the Cyber collection.
Bruno Belamich, co-founder and Creative Director of Bell & Ross, played a pivotal role in redefining reality with faceted 3D designs. He emphasized the transformative power of design, stating, “Their workings question our relationship to speed, sound, and light.” The result is a watch that pays homage to stealth aircraft, with faceting reminiscent of sharp-edged fuselages.
The BR 03 CYBER Ceramic’s distinctive quality lies in its faceting, drawing inspiration from stealth aircraft that reflect waves and become undetectable to radars. The bold choice of matt black ceramic adds a paradoxical touch of discreet yet spectacular elegance, deviating from traditional precious materials used in watchmaking.
Bell & Ross opted for technical and contemporary components in crafting the BR 03 CYBER. The 42 x 43.7 mm case, made of high-tech ceramic, undergoes complex production methods at high temperatures for increased resistance. The absence of lugs and the integration of the rubber strap housing into the case showcase the Maison’s commitment to purity of design.
Continuing the theme of stealth design, Bell & Ross chose to openwork the dial and main components, revealing the intricate details of the mechanical self-winding movement, the BR-CAL.383 calibre. The 3D skeletonizing adds a spectacular dimension, nodding to digital arts and freezing moments like pixels in a digital image.
