Bentley is commemorating the exceptional W12 engine that has been driving its performance flagships and defining the brand since 2003 with the release of the limited-edition Speed Edition 12. This is a fitting tribute to an extraordinary engineering achievement, as the W12 is widely regarded as the most successful 12-cylinder engine of the modern era.
The Edition 12 package is an exclusive offering available for the Bentayga, Flying Spur, Continental GT, and Continental GT Convertible models, which are part of the Speed specification lineup. This package comes with several unique design enhancements that make these vehicles stand out from the rest. Included in the Edition 12 package are special badges, a numbered engine plaque, embroidery, and contrast stitching on the seats, as well as a fascia in Grand Black veneer with the engine firing sequence etched and an inlaid Edition 12 badge. These features add to the luxurious and sporty feel of the vehicle. What’s more, only 120 of each model will be produced, ensuring that the Speed Edition 12 will be an exceptionally rare and highly coveted tribute to the engine that has powered the company’s cars for two decades.
The Speed Edition 12 models feature meticulously curated external features that are subtle yet instantly recognizable to those who know their Bentleys. One of the key distinctive details is the silver brake callipers, which are exclusive to the Edition 12 and not available for any other Bentley model. The Continental GT and Convertible models showcase the Speed Edition 12 badging on the front fender, while the Bentayga and Flying Spur models sport the Edition 12 badges on the rear quarter along with the existing Speed badge.
When you open the hood, you’ll be greeted with a numbered Edition 12 plaque, proudly displayed on the engine’s cover. Additionally, these models boast Blackline specification exterior brightware, 22″ black painted Speed alloy wheels, and self-leveling wheel badges. The Edition 12 package also introduces a new paint color option called Opalite, which is a light grey-green shade with a subtle copper effect that beautifully glows in bright sunshine.
The new models welcome the driver and passengers with illuminated treadplates and lamps, and a bespoke interior design that exudes individuality. They also offer Bentley’s Speed color splits, where the primary color, Beluga black, can be selected as the sole upholstery color or paired with complementing shades such as Brunel blue, Cricketball red, Linen, or Orange. The veneer used in all cases is high gloss Grand Black.
The limited edition also boasts several unique features, including seats with Mulliner Silver piping and embroidered Edition 12 namestyle. The upper seat areas are quilted, with a three-color ‘fade’ from Anthracite through Porpoise to Stratos, which is beautifully contrast-stitched. The quilted door panels also feature contrast stitching.
In addition, the organ stop air vents are unique, with a solid-machined numeral ’12’ on the control face. As an added delightful detail, the Grand Black veneer facia facing the front seat passenger showcases the firing sequence of the W12 engine, etched alongside an inlaid Speed Edition 12 badge.
Customers who purchase the Bentley W12 will receive a meticulously crafted 15 percent scale model of the engine block as a commemorative artefact, perfect for display on a desk, cabinet or shelf. These scale models are cast using aluminium extracted from a full-size W12 engine block, ensuring they are an authentic and lasting tribute to one of Bentley’s most powerful and significant engines.
