Bentley Motors and Contest Yachts have joined forces to create a bespoke Bentley yacht interior for a discerning private client. The canvas for this extraordinary collaboration is the newly modeled 20-metre Contest 67CS, a vessel that seamlessly blends the prestige of Bentley cars with the opulence of yacht design.
The journey began with a visit to Bentley’s Crewe Factory, where the client was captivated by the meticulous craftsmanship of Bentley’s automotive interiors. Inspired, Bentley’s design team, renowned for their work on the Continental GT and Bentayga, embraced the challenge to extend the brand’s luxury into the marine realm.
The Contest 67CS now stands as a testament to the marriage of Bentley’s automotive expertise and Contest Yachts’ dedication to nautical elegance. This collaboration opens up exciting opportunities for yacht owners to embrace the shared values and heritage of both brands, experiencing a new level of luxury in both performance and lifestyle.
The collaborative effort involved close coordination between Bentley and Contest Yachts’ design teams. The creative boundaries were pushed, leading to the incorporation of cutting-edge prototyping methods such as 3D printing. Each component underwent meticulous scrutiny, with full mock-ups, including a handcrafted sofa, ensuring that exacting finishes and stringent quality standards were met.
Bentley’s iconic diamond-quilted hides, a hallmark of their automotive interiors, were seamlessly integrated throughout the yacht. From tissue boxes to drinks coasters, every detail was crafted to the customer’s taste. Specialist techniques, such as hand cross-stitching inspired by Bentley steering wheels, were adapted and employed throughout the yacht’s interior.
The bespoke Bentley yacht interior features iconic Bentley Home furnishings, including the Malvern Chair – a nod to the geometries of Bentley cars. Unique additions, such as a bespoke bar and vanity unit, were specially designed for the Contest 67CS. Even the yacht’s Captain’s chair and ‘Egg’ table received the Bentley touch, showcasing the attention to detail that defines this collaboration.
Arjen Conijn, CEO of Contest Yachts, expressed his delight, stating, “We are delighted to be working with Bentley Motors, adding the option of fully matched Bentley auto and yacht interiors to our portfolio.” The partnership marks a new level of cooperation, presenting the possibility of a dedicated line of Bentley-featured Contest Yachts. The shared beliefs and ambitions of both brands are evident in the seamless integration of their prestigious luxury offerings.
Dr. Matthias Rabe, Member of the Board for Engineering at Bentley Motors, commended the collaboration, highlighting the challenge of adapting craft skills to create a bespoke yacht interior. The finished result is a testament to the incredible talent and skill of Bentley’s craftsmen and women, who rose to the challenge and pushed the boundaries of what is possible.
