In a remarkable move towards embracing diversity and celebrating the unity of humanity, Bentley Motors, renowned for its luxurious automobiles, has taken a bold step by unveiling the ‘Belonging Bentayga.’ This unique hand-painted Alpine Green Bentayga Hybrid represents a significant milestone in the company’s journey to becoming the most diverse luxury car manufacturer globally. This artistic masterpiece showcases iconic skylines and landmarks from around the world, creating a breathtaking blend of cultures and experiences.
The ‘Belonging Bentayga’ is a rolling canvas that brings together different continents and nations in a harmonious display of unity. Each side of the car is adorned with hand-painted skylines and famous landmarks from cities like New York, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Venice, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. It’s a visual representation of the diverse tapestry of our world, where no matter where you’re from, you can find a piece of ‘home’ on this Bentley.
The artistic genius behind this masterpiece is none other than Stephen Wiltshire MBE, a British architectural artist known for his extraordinary ability to draw intricate cityscapes from memory after seeing them just once. Wiltshire’s talent has earned him international acclaim, and his inclusion in this project adds an extra layer of significance to the ‘Belonging Bentayga.’
What makes the ‘Belonging Bentayga’ even more remarkable is that it’s the first Bentley car to be hand-painted in this manner at the company’s factory in Crewe. The painstaking process of bringing Wiltshire’s vision to life involved the skilled hands of the Bentley Excellence Centre Bespoke Paint team. This team meticulously recreated 29 different landmarks on the car’s exterior, ensuring that each detail was flawless.
Beyond skylines and landmarks, the design of the ‘Belonging Bentayga’ also includes drawings of people, symbolizing the diverse nationalities of the world coming together in one harmonious design. It’s a visual representation of Bentley’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Bentley’s dedication to diversity and inclusion extends beyond the ‘Belonging Bentayga.’ In 2021, the company unveiled a comprehensive five-step strategy aimed at enhancing diversity and inclusion at its Crewe-based facility. This strategy focuses on outreach, recruitment, succession planning, culture, and development.
To mark the launch of this strategy, the Bentley Design team took up the challenge of creating artwork that celebrates diversity in all its forms. The result was the ‘Unifying Spur,’ a creation by Bentley designer Rich Morris. This automotive masterpiece, inspired by the nine colors of the Progress Flag, serves as a testament to the unifying power of humanity, transcending race, creed, or sexuality.
Furthermore, Bentley’s rainbow-inspired Continental GT V8 Convertible, launched in July 2020, symbolizes pride in the diversity of its colleagues and offers hope and gratitude as the world emerged from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.
