To commemorate the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, a dedicated group of Bentley‘s artisans collaborated to create an exclusive collection of custom cabin cushions for a fleet of Bentleys. Situated at Bentley’s renowned Dream Factory in Crewe, the team skillfully blended traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology to digitize the unique Coronation Emblem. Each individual cushion was then meticulously handcrafted to perfection.
To meet Bentley’s rigorous standards of quality, it took a dedicated effort of three entire days and four iterations of embroidery processing. Each emblem demanded meticulous refinement, with nearly 30,000 stitches in every emblem warranting careful attention. The emblem itself features a harmonious interplay of two distinct thread colors. Additionally, three unique colorways of the emblem were employed to tastefully contrast the individually-selected hides, perfectly matching the interiors of the respective Bentleys they were designed for.
Crafting each cushion was a meticulous process, taking over three hours to complete. The hides used in the production were carefully sourced from Northern Europe, benefiting from the region’s temperate climate and absence of barbed wire fencing, resulting in reduced imperfections. Before precision cutting, each hide underwent thorough inspection and marking by skilled artisans. The subsequent stages involved hand-stitching, shaping, and finishing, culminating in cushions that rival the exceptional quality of the Bentley cars themselves.
Leading the craftsmanship process is Trim Developer Ella Mitchell, who has guided the team in creating these bespoke cushions for this extraordinary occasion. While the cushions will temporarily accompany Bentley’s press cars, they are not available for purchase, emphasizing their exclusive nature.
One of the most striking features inside Bentley’s cabin is the selection of leather color. In this case, the color combinations of the cushions have been meticulously tailored to the unique specifications of two Bentayga EWBs, two Bentayga Hybrids, and one other exceptionally customized Bentley. These color schemes have been carefully curated in preparation for the upcoming coronation celebrations, ensuring perfect harmony between the cushions and the interior of each vehicle.
The cabin cushions are available in a range of captivating colors, including Cricketball, Cumbrian Green, Imperial Blue, and Saddle. Each cushion utilizes premium 1.4mm thick leather and is adorned with accent piping in Beluga, Porpoise, Newmarket Tan, and Imperial Blue, respectively. To create an exquisite contrast, the emblems on the cushions have been meticulously sewn using Black, White, Red, and Blue threads.
Drawing inspiration from the timeless elegance of Bentley’s Heritage Collection, the size and shape of these cushions have been meticulously modeled after the cushions found in the iconic 1958 S1 Continental Flying Spur. This nod to Bentley’s rich heritage adds a touch of classic sophistication to the bespoke cushions.
