For over two decades, renowned Hollywood directors have crafted captivating short films, featuring notable actors alongside their four-wheeled co-stars. One iconic example is “Star,” which takes viewers on a thrilling journey to a film premiere in a BMW M5. In the more recent release, “The Escape,” a BMW 5 Series sedan plays a central role in an exhilarating chase scene. Enthusiasts can once again anticipate high-speed driving shots, breathtaking action, and an ensemble of A-list actors in the premiere of the upcoming BMW Films production at the Cannes Film Festival.

Developed and constructed through a collaboration between BMW and boat maker TYDE, this groundbreaking vessel represents an innovative and eco-friendly approach to luxury on water. By merging BMW i brand’s extensive knowledge in electric mobility with TYDE’s craftsmanship in boat building, along with a forward-thinking design from BMW Group subsidiary Designworks, THE ICON embodies a progressive vision for the future. Its public unveiling at the Cannes Film Festival showcases BMW’s comprehensive commitment to sustainable mobility in the coming years.
From May 16th to 27th, 2023, the prestigious Cannes Film Festival will attract filmmakers, actors, and cinema enthusiasts from around the globe to witness the unveiling of significant new productions and the esteemed Palme d’Or award. BMW takes charge of the event’s shuttle service, ensuring smooth transportation throughout the festival’s various transfer routes at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. BMW’s fleet for the festival consists exclusively of current models with electrified powertrains, enabling them to navigate the bustling Cannes traffic silently and emission-free. This provides an authentic experience of sustainable luxury for international guests, festival participants, and VIPs.
The fleet showcases the diverse range of electrified BMW models available in the luxury segment.
