As we step into December, Swiss luxury watchmaker Breguet pays a homage to the season of love with the release of the Reine de Naples 8925 Valentine’s Day Edition. This limited edition timepiece beautifully integrates poetic references into the iconic Reine de Naples collection.
The Reine de Naples 8925 Valentine’s Day Edition is a visual masterpiece that captures the essence of romance. Its white mother-of-pearl dial is adorned with subtle red accents, creating an elegant contrast that symbolizes love’s passionate allure. The flange, set with 66 hand-set rubies, adds a touch of opulence, while the bezel features a myriad of diamonds and a crown adorned with a cabochon-cut ruby, further enhancing the watch’s regal beauty.
Delicate red hearts mark the hours on an offset chapter ring, adding a discreet and charming touch to the timepiece. The hours and minutes hands follow a passionate path, perfectly complementing the alligator leather strap. Even the lug and folding clasp are adorned with hand-set diamonds, showcasing Breguet’s dedication to meticulous craftsmanship.
At the heart of this 33mm egg-shaped masterpiece lies the 586/1 self-winding movement, a marvel of watchmaking. With 180 parts, a 38-hour power reserve, and a 3 Hz frequency, this caliber is a testament to precision and innovation. The balance spring made of silicon not only resists corrosion and wear but also remains unaffected by magnetic field influences, ensuring the timepiece’s accuracy.
The Reine de Naples collection has a rich legacy that dates back to the 19th century. Inspired by Caroline Murat, Napoleon Bonaparte’s younger sister and a fervent arts supporter, Breguet embarked on a groundbreaking journey. In 1810, Abraham-Louis Breguet received a bold and avant-garde order to create the world’s first wristwatch, a request that marked a revolutionary shift in timepiece design.
Conceived by a woman and crafted by a master watchmaker, the historic timepiece was delivered in 1812. Documented in the Breguet archives, this oblong creation with a silver guilloché dial was adorned with intricate details, including a minute repeater, a moon phase, and a thermometer. The bracelet, made of hair intertwined with gold threads, showcased a blend of artistry and innovation, allowing the timepiece to be worn on the wrist.
With only 28 pieces available, the Reine de Naples 8925 Valentine’s Day Edition is a rare and exquisite celebration of love.
