Bulgari and WiseKey announced the Intelligent Watch Diagono ” E ” Magnesium concept.
Italian jewelry and luxury goods brand Bulgari has partnered with Swiss digital security company Wisekey to create a new watch concept, Diagono “E” Magnesium that will offer users cybersecurity features in a traditional watch. The technology uses a cryptographic chip and invisible antenna which uses NFC (Near Field Communication). The Diagono watch works with an app called Bulgari Vault to securely store pass codes, cloud data, payment information, and more.
With the intelligent Bulgari Diagono “E” Magnesium it’s possible to make Bulgari hotel check-in, car unlocking, and alarm system activation. The data will be backed up on servers in military bunkers in the Swiss Alps. The app, and the data inside, will only be accessible to the wearer of the watch. Should the phone be stolen or lost, the configuration of the Bvlgari Vault will immediately destroy all data and thus block all access to third parties. All data will be restored either when a new telephone is bought or by using the application’s encrypted backup that is activated through the Diagono Magnesium.
Besides being the first wrist-vault, an intelligent luxury watch delivering full security storage for the owner’s digital data, Bulgari Diagono “E” Magnesium is a stylish and traditional mechanical wristwatch. The 41mm is crafted using steel and a magnesium alloy, a ceramic bezel engraved the double Bulgari logo. Thus, it’s light, resistant and has been coated in Motorlac (an ultra-resistant and biocompatible paint that is available in anthracite, brown, silver or blue). The caseback is black PVD steel as is the crown with a black ceramic lozenge. The movement is a standard Bulgari movement running at 28,800 bph with a power reserve of 42 hours.
The Bulgari Diagono “E” is much more than a gadget. More and more people are trusting these systems in their everyday lives and, owing to their practicality, it won’t be long before they attract an increasing number of consumers. The application designed for the piece is undoubtedly the most efficient and least invasive for watchmaking as it allows the piece to maintain all the characteristics of luxury products whilst at the same time being able to offer as much functionality as possible.
