Drawing inspiration from the symbolic Egyptian scarab beetles, Christian Louboutin creates a new limited-edition nail-polish collection called Scarabée I, II and III
Paying homage to his “second home”, the legendary shoe designer Christian Louboutin creates the Egyptian Louboutin Beauté Scarabée nail collection. The artifact of Egyptian iconography, the scarab beetle, that symbolizes the idea of rebirth, inspired the three new shades of nail colors perfect for vibrant summer manicures and pedicures.
The Scarabée Limited Edition Collection features luminous shades, which were taken from the beetle’s iridescent shell. The varnishes can look beautiful and reflective under the sun but also look like a precious jewel by night. Thus, Scarabée I appears to be gold and shimmery on the daylight and turns into pure rose pink in the dim light. The same happens when using Scarabée II, the bronze polish with green and blue highlights and Scarabée III, the gold one with purple and emerald tones. They look like precious stones on the fingertips.
The Scarabée Collection of nail polish comes in the iconic form of the glass bottle and the custom-designed, patented triangular brush. The nail varnish is housed into a distinctive soft touch mat carton featuring a cut-out window and a copper gold scarab key note. Priced at $50, the highly pigmented though quite thin formula allows two coats and reduces any risk of smudging and dents.
The amusing campaign for the Scarabée Limited Edition Collection features Christian Louboutin himself posing alongside oversized bottles of the nail color and Egyptian architecture in a bad-on-purpose series of Photoshopped images. Being the shoe wizard Louboutin is releasing the Scarabée pump, also a limited edition item. The stiletto features the same iridescent colors as those of the polish and the scarab beetle itself. The pointed toe carries a metallic blue tip, before it grades into a metallic emerald green at the heel.
