Coco avant Chanel is the new High Jewelry collection from Chanel, that pays homage to the early days of its founder, Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel before her arrival in Paris. The collection includes 11 jewelry sets inspired by two founding elements of Gabrielle Chanel’s signature style, lace and ribbon, and each set is named after a woman who left the mark in the designer’s life before 1920.
Specifically for Coco avant Chanel collection, laze and ribbon have now been reimagined into jewelry creations, captured in gold and precious stones and finished with subtle gradations of gray and gold. The ribbons appear loose, draped, wound and tied in ethereal loops, whereas lace is designed in streamlined styles, seemingly inspired by iconic motifs from the Chanel universe and often with asymmetric designs.
The 11 jewelry include necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, watches, brooches and headbands. The High Jewelry collection is embellished with with morganite, cultured pearls, spinels, moonstones, Padparadscha sapphires and diamonds. The most precious item is the “Gabrielle Chanel” necklace, an 18K white gold piece set with a 10.02-karat pear-cut diamond, two round diamonds totaling 0.71 karats, and 1,581 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 51.22 karats, in a design representing precious lace. The Marthe jewelry set features 18K white gold with Japanese cultured pearls, gray spinels and brilliant-cut diamonds.
A series of high jewelry watches complete the collection, all set with several hundred diamonds of various cuts.
