Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet presents its first Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Flyback Chronograph limited edition in 18-carat white and pink gold. 25 pieces of this limited edition were launched last October in Japan. The remaining 25 pieces are now available across the world.
Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Flyback Chronograph combines a two-tone case, interweaving 18-carat white and pink gold, with a three-dimensional architectural movement.
The 18-carat pink gold middle case is juxtaposed with the multifaceted lugs, extra-thin bezel and round caseback, all made in 18-carat white gold. The white and pink gold combo highlights the watch’s detailed geometry and refined hand-finishing techniques. The 18-carat white gold crown and chronograph pushpieces inserted within the pink gold octagonal middle case further the watch’s elegant superposition of varied tones and shapes.
The two-tone case design is mimicked in the architectural movement’s powerful juxtaposition of black galvanic and rhodium-toned openworked bridges, respectively honed from titanium and nickel silver. The bridges and design elements, which include more than 100 angles, have been finished with sandblasting, satin-brushing, and polished chamfers.
The clear chronograph counters and the flying tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock also reveal part of the watch’s complex mechanism ticking within. This is the case of the pink gold-toned balance wheel that can be admired through the flying tourbillon aperture, which subtly matches with the 18-carat pink gold hands and intricate middle case.
The limited-edition watch houses caliber 2952, the Manufacture’s latest selfwinding movement endowed with a classic flying tourbillon and a contemporary flyback chronograph that enables to restart the chronograph without stopping or resetting it first. To complement this sporty complication, the selfwinding mechanism offers a minimum of 65 hours of power reserve as well as water-resistance to 30 m.
The sapphire caseback reveals essential elements of the complex mechanism’s 479 components, including the collection dedicated 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight. The caseback is engraved with “Limited Edition of 50 Pieces.”
