The Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 2019 campaign showcases the creations from Virgil Abloh’s second Louis Vuitton runway collection. Shot by Inez and Vinoodh, the new campaign explores the theme of inclusivity and builds on the Men’s Artistic Director’s past collections. Virgil Abloh chose Japan, a strong inspiration for his recent Pre-Collection, as the backdrop for his new Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 2019 campaign. Inez & Vinoodh shot the multi-layered and detail-rich collection through the distinctive distortion of the fish-eye lens, enhancing its spirit of futuristic nostalgia.
Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton Collection was also envisioned by Japanese photographer Kenta Coboyashi. The prismatic representation of the rainbow has been one of the key motifs for Virgil Abloh since his debut collection for Louis Vuitton last year. For Fall-Winter 2019, the futuristic ambiance of the collection was reflected in Kenta’s artistic images. The Taiga Rainbow motif and fiber optic Keepall come alive in these images shot against the backdrop of the photographer’s native Japan.
In the campaign, one of the models dons the lavish Monogram Admiral Jacket. The jacket’s design is inspired by the military aesthetics as well as Louis Vuitton’s iconic craftsmanship. Crafted from iconic Monogram canvas, it combines a bandolier with details inspired by the House’s leather goods: VVN leather trim and removable belts, gold hardware, and cotton pocket linings. The look is enhanced thanks to the Backpack Trio in Monogram canvas. The backpack features the gold-color chain on the front pocket and a cowhide leather flap. The three zipped front and side pockets make the backpack practical and even more functional. Its generously sized interior is large enough to hold a laptop.
The Monogram Shearling Coat reflects the season’s enveloping, cocoon feel. Created in a loose-fitting “bathrobe” shape, it reinterprets the House’s defining Monogram motif as an all-over laser-cut pattern. Soft leather trimming on the inside adds extra luxury. Side pockets and a matching belt finish the look.
For the new season, Virgil Abloh creates an oversized version of the iconic Keepall. The Keepall XL Puffer comes in lambskin puffer and is decorated with the emblematic Monogram signature in its indentations.
