The Spanish influence on Sicilian traditions and colors served as the inspiration for D&G’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection and now finds its expression in the collectible Dolce & Gabbana porcelain doll
Dolce & Gabbana
Though Concetta, Immacolata and Addolorata hit the runway for Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2015 fashion show back in 2014, the three adorable porcelain dolls are currently available for purchase for $1,570. Dolce&Gabbana’s unique Sicilian inspired porcelain dolls, created out of pure ceramic, are dressed in unique doll sized outfits made by the same hands which create the womenswear apparel. Limited to only 300 pieces each, the porcelain dolls are carrying the most famous leather bags Dolce & Gabbana Sicily, which is the mini version of the original ultra-luxury bag.
Aimed to resemble the dolls available for purchase in the train stations of 1950s Italy, Dolce & Gabbana porcelain dolls come in the vintage-inspired window carry-cases printed to look like majolica tile. The box features a handle, so it’s possible to carry it like a tote bag.
Ensuring the high quality that is synonymous to the name Dolce & Gabbana itself, each doll’s name and number of authenticity is engraved on a gold plaque attached to the top of the case. The replica gowns for Cocetta, Immacolata and Addolorata were tailored in Dolce & Gabbana’s atelier to match those worn in the Spring Summer 2015 collection of the house. the dolls also sport matching accessories.
The design of Dolce & Gabbana porcelain dolls reflects the mood of the Spring/Summer 2015 collection of the brand, followed by the beautiful Spanish fiesta-inspired campaign. The collection comprises curve-skimming dresses and underwear-inspired pieces, but “it’s not sexy aggressive”, Stefano Gabbana said. “We have a lot of bad news every day. Fashion needs to reflect the world … but sometimes you need to have a dream”.
