Elaine Dolley, a 25+ year industry veteran, is one of the most sought-after luxury real estate brokers in Boston.
LUX EXPOSÉ: Where did you grow up?
ELAINE DOLLEY: I grew up in A beautiful Oceanside town just outside of Portland Maine, Cape Elizabeth.
LUX EXPOSÉ: What were your aspirations as a youth?
ELAINE DOLLEY: As a young girl I was interested in architecture and interiors often turning the pages of architectural Digest and similar magazines. I would spend hours flipping through the pages taking in every detail of the beautiful luxurious homes that were featured. At age five I was becoming a Mini Real Estate Broker in training. Every Sunday when the newspaper was delivered I took the real estate section creating charts of comparisons of the Luxury Properties concluding even then what was the best value.
LUX EXPOSÉ: When did you get involved in real estate and what motivated or influenced your involvement?
ELAINE DOLLEY: Starting out I took any and every deal opportunity knowing even then that the small deals would become larger deals and repeat business as both my buyers and my sellers grew within their families and their businesses. A perfect example would be a customer who has become a best friend. When we met she was single and purchased a one-bedroom home. After becoming engaged and married they purchased a 2-bed had 2 girls and then purchased a larger 2 bed room and various income properties. Soon they will sell and purchase a single family in Back Bay.

LUX EXPOSÉ: How long did it take to master the craft of selling luxury real estate?
ELAINE DOLLEY: It did not take long for me to master the craft of selling Real Estate. After starting out as most do renting an apartment or two, I quickly learned that it was often easier and certainly more lucrative to sell a large property than a smaller one.
LUX EXPOSÉ: Tell us about your target demographic?
ELAINE DOLLEY: I am open to selling just about any home whether it be a $400,000 studio or a $10,000,000 home. All my clientele receives my full attention and prosper from the same marketing and the same handholding start to finish. Having said that most of my clients and customers have become long term loyal repeat customers and friends!
LUX EXPOSÉ: What is your most memorable sale to date and why?
ELAINE DOLLEY: My most memorable sale to date would be from many years back. I was young and starting out when I received a call from a gentleman who became not only a top client but a great friend. He was interested in purchasing apartment buildings and converting them to condominiums. I drove around the city focusing primarily on the Fenway neighborhood and identified buildings that I liked the looks of. I then searched for the owner information. In this case the gentleman that I found owned not just the building that I had identified but a large portfolio of buildings. I proceeded to sell six of his buildings! I then packaged them and sold the converted condominiums in blocks to mostly investors. I made the initial building sales and then had the resale’s! This is the ultimate circle of life in the real estate world.
LUX EXPOSÉ: What areas in Boston are hot right now for luxury real estate?
ELAINE DOLLEY: Without a doubt it is The Seaport. The most exciting and exclusive property to come will be ECHELON. There will be approx 448 Homes for sale as well as a rental component and world class retail. This is a Property that will present never seen before finishes, Design and amenities. The world class retail will be encased in a lush courtyard setting making me think of a 5 Star Legacy Place within the city. The sales center will open for reservations after the first of the year with completion as early as 2020. Reach out to me now to schedule a pre-launch private tour .

LUX EXPOSÉ: What is the largest and most expensive property you have sold and tell us about what it took to make the sale?
ELAINE DOLLEY: The largest most expensive property that I have sold would be 10 Million dollars. This home was a “private sale”, meaning it was not listed on the open market or in MLS. I had a buyer with certain requirements and expectations regarding what they wanted in their next home. I reached out to previous client who owned a property meeting the exact needs of my buyer. I was able to set up a private showing to view the targeted property, we made the deal that evening at the showing. When asked what did it take to make this sale? My answer is creative thinking, the relationships I keep with my clients… and honestly a bottle of Dom Perignon!
LUX EXPOSÉ: What is the client from hell and how do you overcome these types of difficulties?
ELAINE DOLLEY: We have all heard of “the client from Hell “and the question is …. what do you do to overcome these difficulties and get the job done? Simply breathe deeply and kill them with kindness!

LUX EXPOSÉ: Do you like to travel and if so what has been your favorite destination?
ELAINE DOLLEY: When able to travel I prefer to go to a tropical location where I can relax, rest and take in the surrounding beauty. For me this has been and remains Turks and Caicos and Parrot Cay off of Turks. On one trip many years ago, we had rented a boat and were cruising about the waters only to see more than a dozen rainbows, this was one of the most beautiful sites I have ever been blessed to see! Spectacular.
LUX EXPOSÉ: What advice would you give to anyone trying to enter the luxury real estate market?
ELAINE DOLLEY: The advice I always give to those looking to enter the Luxury Real Estate sales world would be to understand that this is a 24/7 business. There are no days off, BUT the rewards can be great. Some of my closest most loved friends I have met through buying and selling Real Estate. This is my real reward and this is the cherry on top for me!
