Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto is set to launch an exclusive sake immersion experience in collaboration with Tsuki no Katsura, a revered 350-year-old sake brewery in Fushimi, Kyoto. This extraordinary venture not only offers a glimpse into Japan’s iconic fermented rice wine but also provides a five-star luxury experience at Japan’s first Gourmet hotel.
Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto, a 59-room boutique property, seamlessly blends the essence of its Parisian-based sister hotel with the rich cultural heritage of Kyoto. The hotel boasts a myriad of offerings under one roof, including the renowned Gourmet Bar in each room and suite, Le Grand Café Fauchon, Salon de Thé Fauchon, Patisserie and Boutique Fauchon at street level, Le Spa Fauchon, and, for the first time, Le Bar Fauchon.
The special package, titled “Prestige Suite With Tsuki no Katsura Concept Room,” is a celebration of Kyoto’s culinary culture. Guests will be accommodated in the transformed Prestige Suites adorned with rare sake-related ceramics from the Tokubei Masuda Shoten brewery, the producer of Tsuki no Katsura sake.
The package includes an array of delightful offerings, such as pastry specialties inspired by Tsuki no Katsura’s sake, including Fauchon’s signature Bisou Bisou lip-shaped poundcake and rice puff crunch chocolate. Guests also receive a bottle of Tsuki no Katsura sake and an original tenugui (hand towel) as a memento of their immersive experience.
To enhance the understanding of Japan’s most notable alcoholic beverage, guests will enjoy a sake tasting at Le Bar Fauchon. This experience includes a presentation of five different kinds of sakes with explanations on their unique characteristics and production methods.
The package further indulges guests with a Chef Omakase course and Sake Pairing Dinner, showcasing the culinary expertise of Fauchon. Daily breakfast is also included in the package.
For those seeking a deeper connection with sake craftsmanship, guests can arrange a private tour of the Tsuki no Katsura Sake Brewery. This premium experience, guided by the CEO, includes a sake tasting with the vintage label. Note that the brewery is open on specific days, requiring advance booking to align with the stay dates.
The “Prestige Suite With Tsuki no Katsura Concept Room” Package is available starting at 157,600JPY per night for double occupancy. Rates vary depending on the dates of stay. The package can be booked here and is available until May 31, 2024.
Even guests not opting for the package can savor the sake experience at Le Bar Fauchon for 3,000JPY or indulge in the Chef Omakase Course and Sake Pairing Dinner for 28,000JPY per person.
