For Gucci Collectors campaign, Italian fashion house has invited a tribe of outsiders that are imagined as a group of collectors of art and artefacts who gather in an Austrian institution. Shot by British fashion photographer and film director Glen Luchford and art directed by Christopher Simmonds, the campaign is inspired by eccentric personalities who are passionate collectors of paintings, antiques and rare objects. Wearing the latest collection by Alessandro Michele, the odd characters sit down to an opulent banquet.
Models dancing around a maypole, plush toys, porcelain and butterflies can all be found in Gucci Collectors campaign. There is also the Butterfly Collector who hold a bag embellished with tiger hardware inspired by a vintage Hattie Carnegie design. Described as a window into a series of intensely personal worlds, the campaign portrays the Plush Toy Collector surrounded by his enormous collection, the Painting Collector who knows what his purpose in life is.
Glen Luchford has repeatedly worked with Alessandro Michele. Among his latest works for the brand is Gucci Men’s Tailoring campaign that was fronted by Harry Styles as well as Gucci Dans Les Rues campaign for the Pre-Fall 2018 collection, that was inspired by the 1968 student riots of 1968.
