The Korean word ‘gaok’, which means ‘traditional home’, was chosen as a name for GUCCI GAOK. The House’s second flagship store in Seoul is based in the eclectic Itaewon neighborhood and pays homage to its diverse heritage and valuable tradition of inclusivity.
GUCCI GAOK provides a one-of-a-kind customer experience. Designed by famous artist SeungMo Park, its façade, is inspired by an imaginary forest. The interaction between light and shadow, and the application of wire netting layers resulted in vivid symbolism, illustrating the boundaries between what is real and what is an illusion. The artist expresses the existence and non-existence of nature, his concerns of what can be lost, leaving only the illusion of what might be left.
The store, which reflects the hectic and innovative spirit of the district, houses a wide selection of ready-to-wear, handbags, luggage, accessories, shoes, jewelry and Gucci Décor as well as collections exclusive to the store. It is the only place where customers can purchase a special lineup of accessories that feature the archival Baiadera print combined with the GG motif.
To celebrate the inauguration, Gucci has created a special film, featuring elements from Korean heritage and the elegant and contemporary eclecticism that characterize the House.
KAI – Brand ambassador of Gucci Korea – alongside Cha Seung-won, Lee Ji-ah, Han Jee-min, Jay Park and Sunmi, takes viewers on a tour of the new space whose design combines a vibrant “pop” soul with elegant and contemporary eclecticism.
