Gucci has launched #GucciHallucination, a limited edition capsule collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts that feature Spanish artists Ignasi Monreal’s artful illustrations. Only 200 T-shirts and 100 sweatshirts have been produced and similar to an art print each one is numbered with a dedicated label. Nine designs feature the Gucci Spring-Summer 2018 campaign images. The #GucciHallucination pieces are delivered in packaging featuring the artist’s work.
Photographer Julia Hetta captures a series of portraits featuring characters wearing the limited edition #GucciHallucination line-up of ready-to-wear pieces. A light illuminates models who don the outfits decorated with the digital illustration that mix imagery from classic artworks with characters dressed in the House’s colorful designs.
My photography is a photography close to the art of painting and Ignasi and I share the surreal aspect of looking to the world. – Julia Hetta
Mixing a classical art background with digital dexterity, Ignasi Monreal’s illustrations touch on ancient, contemporary and sometimes completely surreal themes at once. Among the young artist’s framed pieces are mermaids on a rock in ice-skater inspired gowns; women fishing in the clouds for airplanes and a knight on horseback carrying the new Ophidia tote, while a castle stands on an island suspended in the air.
The limited edition collection is available online. The coveted T-shirts are priced at $790 and sweatshirts are available for purchase for $1,400.
