To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Hennessy joined creative forces with Yan Pei-Ming, one of the world’s most celebrated and sought-after contemporary artists. The result is the limited edition Hennessy V.S.O.P cognac, the Hennessy X.O bottle and an exceptional Hennessy Paradis.
Famous for his portraits of animals and famous personalities, Yan Pei-Ming honors the Year of the Rabbit with a monumental painting, depicting the rabbit, and all the 12 animals of the zodiac. Evoking a message of freedom, inclusion, and interconnectednes, the artist’s artwork “The Great Race” showcases the zodiac animals running in unison. In this painting, Yan Pei-Ming focuses on capturing light. Drawing inspiration from the colors of Hennessy’s cognac, the Chinese artist uses a new palette: cognac’s amber, orange, russet and burgundy tones.
When you hold a bottle of cognac up to sunlight, its hues and transparency vary so much. I wanted to portray cognac — but it’s light that is really the color of this painting. – Yan Pei-Ming
A one-liter Hennessy Paradis decanter is the centerpiece of the collection. It is created in collaboration with Maison Bernardaud. Each decanter is handcrafted in the workshop in celebrated Limoges porcelain. The decanter has been produced in an exclusive series of 888 decanters, each housed in a wooden case.
The V.S.O.P cognac expresses 200 years of Hennessy’s know-how. This unique blend has tamed the elements to craft and embody the original concept of cognac. The emotion awakened by the pleasure of tasting it continually reveals new facets of its personality.
In 1870, Maurice Hennessy, a 4th-generation member of the Hennessy family, asked the Master Blender Emile Fillioux, a descendant of the Hennessy Master Blender Jean Fillioux, to create a special cognac for his family and friends, using long-aged eaux-de-vie. They called it “X.O” for “Extra Old”. Hennessy X.O contributed to the development of the category XO which is a highest degree of uncompromising quality.
