Les Twins, a hip-hop dance duo created by Laurent and Larry Bourgeois, collaborated with Hennessy to translate the Cognac-making process into a unique artistic expression for the 2021 V.S Limited Edition release. The self-taught, multi-talented choreographers and fashion icons have garnered international acclaim as the first winners of World of Dance and were featured dancers in world tours with Beyoncé.
The multi-media Hennessy Very Special and Les Twins collaboration was created around the “Move Out Loud” movement that offered an inclusive platform for artistic expression through live dance and video and music. In Cognac’s vineyards, distilleries, and Founder’s Cellar, Laurent and Larry Bourgeois drew inspiration from the entire art of making Hennessy Very Special to create a freestyle dance interpretation of the six principal stages of cognac-making. As an exceptional cognac originates from blending many unique eaux-de-vie, so freestyle performing needs the harmonious orchestration of singular movements. Both arts demand patience, precise gestures, perfect timing, and boundless energy.
The collaboration between Hennessy Very Special and Les Twins is the most expansive to date. With the help of motion capture technology, the Maison captured the energy of Les Twins’ live performance and transferred those digital images into an original limited-edition concept. For the first time ever, the annual Hennessy V.S Limited Edition release is represented by two complementary graphic designs. Each bottle features a likeness of either Laurent or Larry, captured digitally. The packaging also includes a QR code that opens up the many facets of urban and hip-hop movement for an immersive experience.
The duo also composed and recorded “Mirror,” an original single with lyrics inspired by Hennessy. It is premiering as an original music video – the first Maison Hennessy has ever released – featuring a performance by Les Twins embodying the “Move Out Loud” ethos.
The Hennessy Very Special in Motion by Les Twins collaboration will be revealed in September 2021.
