Jonathan Ward, a famous automotive designer and Founder of ICON 4×4, has joined creative forces with Orion Calf, a luxury leather and leather dye company, to design a one-of-a-kind weekend bag. The off-road specialist is auctioning off the adventure bag to support the efforts at GO Campaign, one of the most efficient charities in the world. The auction is live now and ends next week.
The stylish and built-to-last bag was crafted using the most sustainable leather on the market. Excelsior Leather has been masterfully hand-dyed by artist Kathleen FioRito.
As I’ve been studying with masters around the world and honing my leather craft skills, I found myself wanting to create and design something that is genuinely unique compared to anything I have done before, and with the help of Orion Calf we have collaborated on something truly special. Most modern leather isn’t great for the environment yet is still highly desirable because of its beauty and longevity, so we used Excelsior Leather for this project due to its fully compostable components in addition to being tanned naturally from the husk of fruit that falls from the trees. – Jonathan Ward
Measuring 18” long, 12” wide and 11” tall, this bag includes solid brass hardware throughout with one-of-a-kind cast brass ICON badges outlining the large zipper opening and six brass studs lining the bottom of the bag.
Inside, the bag features two large pouches and is fully lined in Excelsior Leather which is sustainably tanned using tannins from the husks of fruit instead of the bark and wood from a tree. At the end of this bag’s life cycle, it will be properly compostable.
Jonathan Ward’s GO Campaign partners with local heroes to deliver solutions and improve the lives of vulnerable children around the world. This charity connects donors to high-impact grassroots projects aimed at changing lives and transforming communities, one child at a time.
