Bunkhouse’s enthusiasm for Hotel Daphne is palpable, and it comes hot on the heels of their highly anticipated Hotel Saint Augustine, scheduled to open in the fall of 2024. Located just one street away from the iconic 19th Street shopping district, Hotel Daphne is set to redefine luxury accommodations in the historic Houston Heights neighborhood.
Hotel Daphne will be seamlessly integrated into the fabric of the historic Houston Heights neighborhood. The hotel’s design draws inspiration from the neighborhood’s recycled industrial style, paying homage to its roots dating back to the 1890s when it was founded as a utopian society. Bunkhouse, in partnership with RGA Ventures LLC, Blanchard A+D, and Darwin Architecture, is bringing this vision to life.
The five-story new build will feature painted brick facades, stepped parapets, and striking steel windows that harmoniously blend with the neighborhood’s unique aesthetic. The goal is to create an architectural masterpiece that not only respects the area’s history but also celebrates its enduring charm.
But why the name “Daphne”? This choice carries a rich mythological backstory, drawing inspiration from Greek mythology. In the tale, Daphne, the daughter of the river god Peneus, transforms herself into a laurel tree to escape Apollo’s romantic obsessions.
