26-27 May 2018 are the days when you can witness the new Rolls-Royce Dawn ‘Inspired by Music’, as the luxury automaker will unveil it at the Concorso D’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Until then you can admire it in a light-hearted music video.
Dawn ‘Inspired by Music’ was test driven in Rolls-Royce’s anechoic chamber, at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, West Sussex. The special sound-deadening room is used during the build process of all Rolls-Royce motor cars to detect any unwanted extraneous sounds. There, a hyper-sensitive microphone was used to capture the mechanical and electrical tones of Dawn, including the soft closing doors, the umbrella exciting from its home in the door, the windscreen wipers, indicators and the Spirit of Ecstasy proudly taking her place on the prow of the motor car. These sounds were then mixed together with deconstructed music stems to create a wholly new track.
Dawn ‘Inspired by Music’ goes in the same direction as hugely successful stablemate, Wraith ‘Inspired by Music’. It features the unprecedented aural experience of the marque’s Bespoke Audio system.
The Lyrical Copper exterior paint finish is presented with a mixture of brushed and polished textures, and was used as a nod to copper found in only the very best audio systems. An alternative exterior color-way of Andalusian White may also be specified.
The beating heart and soul of any Rolls-Royce motor car is the beloved twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12 powertrain. With a power output of 563bhp or 420kW @ 5,250rpm and a torque rating of 780Nm or 575 lb ft @ 1,500rpm, Dawn’s driving experience is exceptional.
