IWC Schaffhausen, renowned for its precision engineering and commitment to excellence, made waves in the world of horology with the launch of the new Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41. To accompany this milestone, the luxury Swiss watchmaker has orchestrated a global advertising campaign featuring none other than seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton and his teammate, George Russell.
In a groundbreaking move, the IWC brand ambassadors share the spotlight in a short movie, adding a touch of glamour and excitement to the anticipation of the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix. The film captures the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team drivers as they embark on their journey to the race, making a pit stop at a specially designed IWC boutique to collect their personalized Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 timepieces.
The collection itself, dedicated to IWC’s motorsport partners Mercedes-AMG and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, boasts a stunning array of watches crafted from titanium and Ceratanium®. These timepieces feature intricately designed dials and tachymeter scales, embodying the spirit of precision and speed synonymous with Formula One racing.
A highlight of the campaign is the first-ever joint appearance of Hamilton and Russell in an IWC short film. Viewers are treated to glimpses of the two racing legends interacting with the brand’s iconic timepieces at the specially designed IWC boutique. The excitement peaks as the drivers, on the cusp of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, receive their new Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41, a symbol of their commitment to precision and performance.
The IWC boutique itself is a visual feast, drawing inspiration from the iconic Googie architecture that dominated the American landscape from the 1940s to the 1970s. The design pays homage to car culture, jets, and the space age, blending elements from roadside businesses such as gas stations, motels, and diners. This aesthetic is further enriched with nods to American pop culture, including a jukebox and futuristic retail technologies, creating a timeless and captivating space that celebrates the essence of American “diner culture” and a lifestyle devoted to the love of cars and personal mobility.
