Legendary designer and Belgian-born visionary Jean-Michel Gathy is announced as one of the two lead interior designers for the 293m private residence yacht M/Y NJORD. The principal designer of DENNISTON joins Francesca Muzio of FM Architettura for the interiors and Espen Øino of Espen Øino International who creates the overall exterior design.
Jean-Michel Gathy has been involved in the design of hundreds of the world’s most elite hotels including Aman Resorts, Four Seasons, Cheval Blanc, Park Hyatt, St. Regis, Armani, Mandarin Oriental, Capella, GHM, Banyan Tree, One&Only, etc. He will be working closely alongside Espen Øino, the principal naval architect for M/Y NJORD, and Jean-Louis Stutzmann, Ocean Residences Development’s Chief Design Architect. The highly anticipated launch of the private residence yacht has already seen strong demand for the 117 residences onboard.
The world’s only residential yacht to offer 14 duplex and two spectacular triplex residences with private elevators, Gathy’s signature style, and designs will span across decks 10 – 13 and alongside several of the top residences and Penthouses on M/Y NJORD. The design will be homely, comfortable, smart casual, and exclusive yet contemporary. Residents will be able to choose the identity for their residences, which are available in 21 distinct configurations comprising two to six bedrooms. For the larger ones, the designer has included a walk-in wine cellar, cheese room, humidor, safe room, private gym, sauna, steam or any other facility fancied.
Global wellness operator Chenot will offer a world-class medical spa facility, alongside extensive health and wellness programs. Residents will enjoy an impressive array of amenities, which include a marina, a yacht and sailing club, an expedition and dive center, and various watercraft including submersibles. The yacht accommodates up to two 8-seater twin-engine helicopters and four purpose-built luxury Riva-style tenders. There will be a high-speed satellite communication system, a range of sporting facilities including a fully equipped golf center, pools, a state-of-the-art gym, an arts and craft studio, a library, a business center, a chef’s kitchen, and a theatre.
