Italian jewelry and luxury goods brand Bulgari has announced the Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge as the new face of its global campaigns through 2017. Chosen to incarnate a type of “Roman opulence”, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model, according to CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, “even though she is not Italian, she looks golden and exotic – very much like those Italian divas.”
It is a great privilege for me to be the testimonial of a brand that so perfectly combines imagination and exquisite craftsmanship. Shooting with Mario Testino is always larger than life in and of itself. He has such a great personality and brings so much life to his photos, and the collaboration with Bulgari was just so natural and amazing. As a new brand ambassador, Lily Aldridge graces Bulgari Fall/Winter 2016 campaign photographed by the legendary Mario Testino. Shot in Rome, the “Larger Than Life” campaign features the American supermodel posing in signature Serpenti coil watch and “Diva’s Dream” necklace embellished with diamonds, rubies, emeralds and other precious jewels.
The Mediterranean Renaissance beauty follows in the footsteps of previous faces of Bulgari, namely Rachel Weisz, Julianne Moore and Carla-Bruni Sarkozy. The brand’s global head of communications, Stephane Gerschel has confessed that the decision to chose a model, rather than a Hollywood actress, was made thanks to Aldridge’s incredible spirit and personality. “For this campaign, we didn’t want to be stuck with just one archetypical woman. Lily is multi-faceted. She embodies all of the different personalities that make up the Bulgari woman today. She’s not just a princess. She’s not just a Hollywood star. She’s not just a social media queen. She is in fact all of these things and much more.”
