The last gas-powered car Lotus will ever make, the new Lotus Emira, was launched in New York City as part of its official United States tour. The car was photographed conquering the streets of the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. just off the East River. After that it was welcomed into the city by Matt Windle, Managing Director, Lotus Cars during the VIP New York launch event. At an exclusive launch party, members of the press, American depositors and prospective customers were able to admire the latest Lotus sports car. It will make additional stops in Las Vegas, Nev. and Los Angeles, Calif., visiting 13 cities in total before the end of the year.
Back in August, the new Lotus Emira made its US debut during Monterey Car Week at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. After that it was presented at the inaugural Fort Lauderdale Concours in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Lotus Cars served as the presenting sponsor.
Striking design, thrilling dynamic performance delivering best-in-class ride and handling, outstanding aerodynamics, and an unrivaled experience ‘For The Drivers’, the Emira has it all. The vehicle has been developed on a new lightweight bonded aluminum chassis.
It is powered by 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine, mid-mounted behind the two seats. Developing 400hp, it’s mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with a visible gearchange mechanism and hydraulic power-assisted steering.
The car’s 20-inch ultra-lightweight V-spoke forged alloy wheels are diamond cut to create a premium two-tone finish. Silver or gloss black variants are available as a no-cost option. Two-piece brake discs with branded calipers are part of the First Edition spec, plus a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Exterior details include LED lights all round, a titanium exhaust finisher, heated power-fold door mirrors and rear parking sensors. The front bumper air blades, front splitter, side sills and rear diffuser are all in finished in gloss black.
The First Edition is available in one of six paint colors: Shadow Grey, Seneca Blue, Magma Red, Hethel Yellow, Dark Verdant, and Nimbus Grey. More colors will be available in 2022.
Interior comes in seven color choices, all available at no extra cost. They are red, black, grey, and tan Nappa leather, as well as black Alcantara with either red, yellow, or grey stitching. Satin chrome trim finishers, white interior mood lighting and Lotus-branded sill kick plates complete the premium look.
