Industrial designer Marc Newson has collaborated with Louis Vuitton on a capsule range of rolling suitcases available in mini, cabin and check-in size. Made from the classic Louis Vuitton Monogram, Damier, rainbow Epi leather and more, the collection also comes in a range of bold colors, including orange and yellow, as well as navy and black for those who prefer classic styles.
Marc Newson has envisioned Louis Vuitton Luggage to be super light and quite innovative. The designer has moved the handle to the outside of the bag, making it a structural element and offering a completely flat surface inside leaving more packing space. Doing that also eliminates the hillocks that run down the middle of almost all other carry-on bags. The bag is closed with a single zipper that terminates in a TSA-approved locking mechanism, which fits in the spine of the bag. The shell is covered with the classic LV canvas,
The Marc Newson For Louis Vuitton Luggage collection will be an ongoing inclusion in LV’s offering from July 15 and will be priced from $3650-$5000. This is not the first time Newson has worked with Vuitton, in 2014 he was one of several design stars—a group that included Frank Gehry, Karl Lagerfeld and Cindy Sherman, asked to reimagine a piece of luggage with iconic monogram print. The Australian designer has created a very practical backpack that he would personally use.
