MB&F LM1 Silberstein is created in collaboration with watch designer Alain Silberstein, and becomes the latest addition to the Performance Art watch series
MB&F LM1 Silberstein is a limited edition of 3 x 12 pieces in red gold, titanium, or black PVD-treated titanium, born from the collaboration with watch designer Alain Silberstein. A part of the Performance Art series, Silberstein has taken MB&F’s classic Legacy Machine N°1 and imbued it with his unique flair for the unconventional. The watch incorporates his signature three bright shades and shapes: red, blue, yellow; and triangle, rectangle and circle, which contrast against the more subdued movement plate below.
MB&F LM1 Silberstein is defined by the concave curves of the subdials, that look like the vortex of a black hole. These are juxtaposed against the convex sapphire crystal dome that protect the timepiece, symbolically cusping the notion of time and space in between.
The concave subdials attract and welcome the “eternal time” of the universe into the movement, where it is transformed and displayed as two completely independent time zones. The transparent sapphire crystal balance bridge showcases the movement that took two years of development to create.
French quote, “Le vrai bonheur est d’avoir sa passion pour métier” (“Making a profession of your passion is true happiness”) adorns the case band right between the lugs of LM1 Silberstein. Both French watch designer Alain Silberstein and Maximilian Büsser find this phrase very meaningful as French watch designer left the safety of working in his trained profession as an interior designer to establish his own watch brand, while MB&F founder has abandoned the security of being a successful CEO of a well-known brand to found his own niche creative lab.
