McLaren Automotive has revealed its most ambitious bespoke livery to date – the mesmerizing 3-7-59 Theme. Crafted by the skilled paint technicians at McLaren Special Operations (MSO), this extraordinary theme for McLaren 750S pays homage to McLaren’s historic Triple Crown victories and stands as a pinnacle of the brand’s 60th-anniversary celebrations.
Unveiled at the Velocity International luxury motorsports festival at Sonoma Raceway, the 3-7-59 Theme is a visual masterpiece commemorating McLaren’s triumphs at the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the illustrious Triple Crown of motorsport.
The name “3-7-59” itself is a nod to the race numbers adorned by the victorious McLarens in each of the Triple Crown events. The ‘3’ from the 1974 Indy 500, the ‘7’ from the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, and the ’59’ from the 1995 Le Mans victory all come together in a vivid collage that tells the story of McLaren’s unparalleled success.
What sets this bespoke livery apart is not just its symbolism but the incredible craftsmanship behind it. More than 1200 hours of meticulous work were invested to paint each car, with six lucky customers already securing unique variations of the 3-7-59 Theme on either a 750S coupe or Spider.
The exterior of the 3-7-59 Theme incorporates over 20 colors, showcasing the expertise of MSO’s paint technicians. Drawing inspiration from the winning cars, the livery intricately weaves together the iconic liveries of the three triumphant vehicles, creating a visually stunning collage that captures the essence of McLaren’s racing history.
Beyond the striking exterior, the 3-7-59 Theme is adorned with hidden details that add an interactive and immersive layer to the experience. QR codes on the exterior and interior provide access to a dedicated webpage detailing the car, while a reflected ‘3-7-59’ motif subtly shines within the headlight mounting. An electrochromic MSO logo illuminates within the brake light at the rear, adding a touch of modern technology to the timeless design.
The interior of the 3-7-59 is a work of art in itself. Triple Crown logos are stitched into the headrests and debossed into the center armrest, celebrating McLaren’s victories. Visual carbon fiber door trim and hand-painted extended carbon fiber shift paddles pay tribute to the iconic ‘shattered’ paintwork of the McLaren MP4/2.
Experimenting with new materials, McLaren has incorporated exterior detailing made from silver leaf, adding a touch of elegance to the lower doors. Even the pedals feature laser-etched artwork matching the exterior details, finished with ceramic coating and Triple Crown stars.
As a final touch, the dedication plaque inside the car features a genuine piece of red and white McLaren Formula 1 car carbon fiber bodywork, cementing the 3-7-59 Theme as a true collector’s masterpiece. With only six of these remarkable cars in existence, each destined for a fortunate owner, the 3-7-59 Theme represents McLaren’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive excellence.
