To celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign, British luxury supercar maker McLaren Automotive has created a bespoke Jubilee platinum paint finish and badge 18 years since she opened McLaren’s global headquarters in Woking, the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC).

The specially developed platinum silver ‘Platinum Jubilee’ paint and a matching badge created by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), McLaren’s in-house bespoke division, are revealed on a one-off example of the McLaren Artura, the brand’s ground-breaking new high-performance hybrid supercar.
Following the development of a bespoke tool and press to create the badge, MSO and McLaren’s advanced coating’s partner AkzoNobel studied different lighting conditions to find the most suitable metallic pigment combination. MSO’s paint developers then formulated the desired platinum composition which took eight days to complete including durability and application testing.
It has been an honor for MSO to create a new platinum paint in celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year. This special paint, which will be available for customers to select for years to come, will be a fitting tribute to mark this historic milestone. – Ansar Ali, Managing Director McLaren Special Operations, McLaren Automotive
Queen Elizabeth II is Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. When her father passed in February 1952, Elizabeth – then 25 years old – became queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, as well as Head of the Commonwealth. Her Majesty has reigned as a constitutional monarch through major political changes such as the Troubles in Northern Ireland, devolution in the United Kingdom, the decolonization of Africa, and the United Kingdom’s accession to the European Communities and withdrawal from the European Union.
